Urban

URBAN brings together outdoor, urban and street photographs shaped by observation, public space and the everyday edges of the built environment.

  • Black-and-white urban photograph of a heavily pruned street tree beside a curved pavement, with wire mesh around its trunk, a mailbox marked 24, utility poles and overhead wires, suburban houses, hedges and bins.
    Clipped

  • Vertical black-and-white photograph of a worn concrete wall covered with repeated portrait flyers, protest notices, torn paper and broad painted lettering. Scratches and faint figure drawings mark the exposed surface above.

  • Black-and-white photograph of textured concrete with a dark branching stain near the lower centre, transferred directly from wet leaves and resembling a small tree or distant grove, with scattered grit and faint marks around it.
Black-and-white photograph of concrete divided by a horizontal joint, with several dark stains directly transferred from wet leaves. A larger branching mark appears below the seam and smaller diffuse shapes above, suggesting a sparse forest landscape.
Black-and-white photograph of pale ridged concrete with a broad dark leaf stain spreading across the lower frame like a wooded ridge, formed through direct transfer from wet plant material, with smaller marks and a thin twig nearby.
Black-and-white photograph of a dark lobed leaf on textured concrete, with a larger branching contact stain above and to the right, transferred from wet plant material and echoing the leaf’s shape like a shadow or tree canopy.

    Dark Harbour

  • Dark photograph of a harbour beneath a near-black sky. The sun is hidden behind a low cloud, sending pale beams upward, while marina masts, buildings and cranes form a thin silhouette above a narrow reflection on still water.

  • Black-and-white overhead photograph of a flattened Coca-Cola Zero can embedded in dark soil and shredded plant debris, rendered in hard granular contrast with partial branding, product text and “330 ml” visible.

Crush

Black and white overhead photo of a dead bird on pavement, surrounded by fallen white blossom and twigs, with a curved twig resembling a crescent moon nearby.

Remains

Darkened colour photograph showing a marina channel, dense yacht masts and moored boats beneath heavy blue-black cloud, with the Auckland Harbour Bridge at left and a narrow band of dawn light on the horizon.
