Urban

URBAN brings together outdoor, urban and street photographs shaped by observation, public space and the everyday edges of the built environment.

  • Black-and-white photograph of a large rounded tree behind a pale timber fence. Houses frame the tree on both sides, utility wires cross the sky, and bright sunlight reveals the grain and knots of the vertical fence boards.
    Fenced In

  • Low-light colour photograph of calm harbour water beneath a wide blue-grey sky. Auckland Harbour Bridge appears near the centre among marina masts and dark trees, with muted mauve light, scattered lamps and short reflections along the horizon.
    Still Harbour
  • Dark early-morning photograph of Auckland’s skyline and Sky Tower in silhouette across harbour water. Heavy black cloud fills the upper sky, while warm glowing light breaks through lower clouds and reflects softly across the water and foreshore.
    Cloud Glow
  • Black and white overhead photo of a dead bird on pavement, surrounded by fallen white blossom and twigs, with a curved twig resembling a crescent moon nearby.
    Bird & Moon
  • Vertical colour photograph of three silhouetted figures standing at different points along a ramp. Dark posts, beams and diagonal railings partly obscure them, while setting sunlight catches the fence posts and warms sections of the blue-grey structure.
    Good Standing
  • Black-and-white overhead photograph of a flattened Coca-Cola Zero can embedded in dark soil and shredded plant debris, rendered in hard granular contrast with partial branding, product text and “330 ml” visible.
