Kicking off the Urban Mashup feed within SHIFT with a selection of experimental mobile photographs made using the handheld lens.

Close black-and-white photograph of a weathered stone female figure holding a rounded rose-like flower near her face, with lens distortion and shallow focus altering the forms.
Stone Rose
Softly focused black-and-white photograph of a courtyard with a central fountain, planting beds and figures before a glazed building. Lens distortion and reflected architectural lines blur the edges and stretch the surrounding forms.
Black-and-white photograph of a large twisted tree growing inside a glasshouse, its thick branches curling across brick walls, glazing and structural supports. Reflections and lens distortion soften the surrounding space.
Black-and-white photograph of blurred vegetation behind glasshouse windows, with curved and distorted window frames running through and around the plant forms.
Black-and-white photograph of a dark glasshouse, with its curved roof and window structure heavily distorted by the lens. Blurred plants are visible behind the glass, while much of the building falls into deep shadow.
Dark black-and-white photograph of a bench or table before tall glass panels. Reflections, vertical window lines and soft focus overlap across the scene, while strong shadows and distorted edges obscure the architectural details.
High-contrast black-and-white photograph of large plant leaves and stems silhouetted against bright glazing. Dark organic forms overlap with vertical window divisions, while lens distortion and soft focus give the foliage a blurred, abstract quality.
Close black-and-white photograph of a weathered stone female figure with her hands resting on her head. Lens distortion curves and compresses the bare trees behind her into a contained field around the sculpture.
Black-and-white photograph of a glasshouse seen from the side, with a large curved roof, brick supports and glazed panels. Lens distortion bends the roof and surrounding architecture into broad overlapping forms.
Black-and-white photograph of several melting ice blocks scattered across vegetation. Light reflects strongly from their translucent surfaces, revealing textures, marks and debris within the ice.
Black-and-white photograph of melting ice blocks among leaves and ground cover. A large translucent block catches light in the centre, while a rounded foreground piece reveals and distorts the vegetation beneath it.
Black-and-white photograph of large melting ice blocks resting among dark vegetation. Their clear, irregular surfaces catch and distort reflections and light, showing marks and textures within the ice.
High-contrast black-and-white photograph of a distorted glasshouse, with a large dark central form beneath a pale curved structure and blurred plants silhouetted against the light.
Black-and-white photograph of a glasshouse with a curved roof and tall windows, plants visible behind the glazing. Lens distortion bends the architectural lines, while dark brickwork frames the softly lit structure.
Close black-and-white photograph of a weathered stone female statue, softly focused and distorted by the lens, with dark structural forms and reflections crossing the face and upper body.
Close black-and-white photograph of a pale orchid emerging from deep shadow, with shallow focus and lens distortion enlarging its broad petals towards the edges of the frame.
