Ghosts of Gaza is a series of abstract digital paintings begun in late 2023 in response to the genocide in Gaza. The works do not depict specific events but use abstraction as a means of processing the relentless stream of atrocity, destruction and mass murder of civilians being fed through our phones and allowed to continue with impunity despite the demands and anger of so many.
Across the series, fractured faces, skull-like forms, unstable figures, repeated signs, broken architectures and fields of dense colour appear and dissolve. The images move between body, ruin, machine, landscape and apparition, carrying the stain of digital witness.
